TBV5-0400-C6-EA-M – Ericsson S400 4G LTE IoT Router with Wi-Fi and 5-Year NetCloud Essentials + Advanced

The Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions TBV5-0400-C6-EA-M supplies the S400 semi-ruggedised 4G LTE IoT router with Wi-Fi 5, dual SIM, Gigabit Ethernet and five years of NetCloud IoT Essentials + Advanced services. It also includes Secure Connect through Ericsson NetCloud SASE, providing zero-trust, policy-controlled connectivity for remote IoT devices. Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions was formerly known as Cradlepoint.

With a five-year NetCloud term, this package is well suited to long-life IoT deployments where consistent cloud management, advanced visibility and secure connectivity are required over an extended operational period. Typical applications include digital signage, kiosks, surveillance equipment, industrial controllers, environmental monitoring, smart-city systems and remotely managed sensors.

Long-term 4G LTE connectivity for IoT deployments

The S400 features an embedded 4G LTE Cat 6 modem with dual SIM support. This provides carrier flexibility and SIM failover within a single compact router, helping maintain connectivity at unattended or difficult-to-reach locations.

Its switchable Gigabit Ethernet interface can serve as either a LAN or wired WAN port. IEEE 802.3af PoE input allows the S400 to receive power and data through the same Ethernet connection, while 9–33V DC input supports fixed, mobile and industrial power environments.

Integrated Wi-Fi 5 and Gigabit Ethernet

Integrated 802.11ac Wi-Fi 5 supports 1×1 SISO operation on either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. It can provide wireless access for local IoT devices or serve as an alternative Wi-Fi WAN source.

The single Wi-Fi radio cannot provide a local wireless network while simultaneously operating in Wi-Fi WAN mode. Installers should select the required operating mode according to the application.

S400 external antenna interfaces

The router includes the following external antenna connections:

  • Two female SMA connectors for LTE 2×2 MIMO
  • One female RP-SMA connector for 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi
  • Passive GNSS reception shared through cellular antenna port 2

The S400 supports passive L1 GNSS antennas only. The second LTE antenna connection provides both cellular diversity and GNSS functionality. The TBV5-0400-C6-EA-M package includes the applicable AC power supply, two cellular antennas and one Wi-Fi antenna.

Five-year NetCloud IoT Essentials service

The five-year NetCloud IoT Essentials entitlement provides centralised management of the S400 through Ericsson NetCloud Manager for the full subscription period.

NetCloud IoT Essentials provides:

  • Cloud-based device management and orchestration
  • Zero-touch deployment
  • Group configuration and policy management
  • Dynamic routing, traffic steering and QoS
  • Zone-based firewall controls
  • Alerts, reports and operational dashboards
  • Remote diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • API, SDK and supported third-party integrations
  • NetCloud OS software and firmware updates

This allows administrators to configure and monitor S400 routers without requiring routine on-site access, making the package suitable for geographically distributed IoT estates.

Five-year NetCloud IoT Advanced capabilities

NetCloud IoT Advanced builds on the Essentials feature set by adding deeper visibility, intelligence and troubleshooting capabilities for the S400.

Advanced features include:

  • In-band and out-of-band management
  • Enhanced real-time troubleshooting
  • Cellular-health monitoring
  • Modem data-usage dashboards
  • GNSS-based location services
  • ANA AI-assisted operational insights, where supported

The five-year entitlement gives network administrators extended access to these tools, helping them identify cellular issues, monitor data consumption and troubleshoot remote equipment throughout a longer deployment lifecycle.

Secure Connect SASE for zero-trust IoT networking

The included Secure Connect service applies zero-trust principles to communications between equipment connected to the S400 and authorised applications or resources.

Secure Connect uses encrypted, policy-governed connections to create micro-segmented networks. Access is denied by default and permitted only where an administrator has created an appropriate policy. This reduces the exposure of remote IoT devices and helps prevent unnecessary communication or lateral movement between systems.

For S400 installations, Secure Connect can provide:

  • Encrypted connectivity over LTE and public internet services
  • Least-privilege access between IoT devices and authorised resources
  • Separation between devices connected through different routers
  • Protection from public scanning and unauthorised discovery
  • Centralised security-policy administration
  • A simpler alternative to some traditional VPN or private APN deployments

Secure Connect is included with the package, although it must be configured for the intended resources and policies. Additional NetCloud SASE services may require separate subscriptions.

Flexible expansion for industrial and IoT equipment

The S400 includes USB 2.0 and configurable GPIO connectivity, with an expansion bay supporting optional interface modules. Depending on the application, the router can be expanded with:

  • MC20-ETH: Two additional Fast Ethernet ports
  • MC20-SRL: DB9 serial interface
  • MC20-GPO: Additional GPIO and analogue input capabilities

This modular design enables the S400 to connect to legacy controllers, sensors, serial devices and multiple wired IoT endpoints without requiring a larger router platform.
