UniFi 5G Backup provides reliable 5G RedCap connectivity with automatic failover, dual-SIM support and flexible PoE-powered installation.

Designed specifically for always-on backup connectivity, it delivers a dependable secondary WAN without the complexity of traditional cellular routers.

  • 5G RedCap Connectivity - Efficient 5G technology designed for reliable, low-latency backup connectivity rather than maximum bandwidth.
  • Automatic Internet Failover - Provides seamless backup connectivity for compatible UniFi Cloud Gateways and UniFi Gateways during primary ISP outages.
  • Dual SIM Support - Features 1× physical nano-SIM and 1× internal eSIM for greater carrier flexibility and redundancy.
  • Flexible PoE Installation - Connect and power through any UniFi PoE port, or use a PoE adapter for direct WAN connections.
  • Compact & Versatile Design - Space-efficient cellular hardware with flexible mounting options, making it easy to deploy wherever backup connectivity is required.

Note.

This is not a standalone router. It is essentially a managed 5G modem that passes the mobile provider’s connection through to a UniFi gateway.

It can be used with:

A UniFi Cloud Gateway, such as a UDM Pro, UDM SE, UDM Pro Max or Cloud Gateway Fibre
A UniFi independent gateway, such as a UXG model, provided the site has a UniFi Network controller/console

It cannot independently provide normal router functions such as NAT, DHCP, firewalling, VLAN routing or Wi-Fi. Those functions must be supplied by the UniFi gateway. It also isn’t intended as a generic Ethernet 5G router for use with a third-party firewall.
