Ubiquiti UA-HUB-DOOR-MINI UniFi Access Door Hub Mini
The UniFi UA-HUB-DOOR-MINI Access Door Hub Mini is a compact, PoE-powered access control hub designed to manage one door through the UniFi Access platform. It connects compatible UniFi Access readers, controls an electric strike, bolt or magnetic lock, and provides dedicated inputs for a request-to-exit device and door-position sensor. With two PoE+ reader ports, support for up to 3,000 users and centralised UniFi management, it is an efficient solution for offices, storerooms, internal entrances and other straightforward single-door access control installations.
Compact UniFi access control hub for one door
The Door Hub Mini provides the core control functions required for a UniFi single-door access solution without the additional inputs and outputs of the larger UniFi Door Hub.
Installed on the secure side of the entrance, it keeps the lock-control relay away from the externally accessible reader. When an authorised NFC card, keyfob, mobile credential or Touch Pass is presented, the reader communicates with the hub, which then releases the connected lock.
The compact enclosure includes a DIN-rail mount and is intended for indoor installation, such as inside a communications cabinet, electrical enclosure or secured ceiling space.
Two PoE+ ports for UniFi Access readers
Two integrated PoE+ output ports allow compatible UniFi Access readers to connect directly to the hub. This provides both network connectivity and power over a single Ethernet cable.
Compatible reader choices include products such as:
- UniFi G3 Reader
- UniFi G2 Reader
- UniFi Reader Flex
- UniFi G3 Reader Pro
- UniFi G2 Reader Pro
- Compatible UniFi Intercom and entry devices
The available functions depend on the selected reader. These may include NFC cards, keyfobs, PIN access, Touch Pass, mobile unlocking, Apple Wallet or Google Wallet credentials, video, two-way audio and visitor calling.
Powered and dry-relay electric lock control
The UA-HUB-DOOR-MINI provides selectable powered and dry-relay lock-control options.
The powered output can directly operate a compatible 12V DC lock drawing no more than 1A. This may eliminate the need for a separate lock power supply in a simple installation.
A dry relay rated at up to 30V DC and 1A is available for locks that need a separate DC power supply. This provides flexibility when working with electric strikes, electric bolts, magnetic locks and other door-locking hardware.
AC-powered locks must not be connected directly to the Door Hub Mini. Always check the lock voltage, current, fail-safe or fail-secure operation and applicable emergency-egress requirements before installation.
Door-position and request-to-exit inputs
The Door Hub Mini includes two dedicated inputs:
- One door-position input
- One request-to-exit input
A compatible door-position sensor allows UniFi Access to monitor whether the door is open or closed. This can help identify doors that have been held or left open and provides more useful activity records.
The request-to-exit input can be connected to an exit button, motion sensor or other suitable release device. Some compatible UniFi readers can also be configured for hand-wave request-to-exit operation.
Centralised management with UniFi Access
The Door Hub Mini is managed through the UniFi Access application on a compatible UniFi Console. Administrators can centrally control users, doors, credentials and entry policies through an intuitive web or mobile interface.
UniFi Access management capabilities include:
- Adding and removing users
- Assigning NFC cards and keyfobs
- Issuing supported mobile and Touch Pass credentials
- Configuring door-access groups
- Applying time-based entry schedules
- Remotely unlocking doors
- Reviewing successful and denied access attempts
- Monitoring door-open and door-closed status
- Receiving relevant door and device notifications
- Managing multiple entrances and sites
- Immediately revoking lost or compromised credentials
UniFi Access does not require a per-door software licence for its standard access-control operation. Optional services and credential types, including additional Touch Passes, may have separate requirements or charges.
PoE++ input for simplified deployment
The Door Hub Mini receives network connectivity and power through a single PoE++ Ethernet input. It then supplies power to connected readers through its two PoE+ output ports.
A suitable PoE++ power source is essential. Standard PoE or PoE+ alone is not sufficient for the hub’s specified power requirements.
The hub can be powered using:
- A compatible UniFi switch with a PoE++ output port; or
- A UniFi U-PoE++ 60W adapter connected to the site network.
The UDM-SE’s integrated switch provides PoE and PoE+, but not PoE++. Therefore, an additional U-PoE++ adapter or suitable PoE++ switch is required when using the Door Hub Mini with a UDM-SE.
Minimum UniFi equipment required
The UA-HUB-DOOR-MINI cannot operate as a complete access-control system by itself. At minimum, the following UniFi components are required:
|
Required UniFi item |
Purpose |
Example |
|---|---|---|
|
Compatible UniFi Console |
Runs the UniFi Access application and manages the door, hub, reader, users and credentials |
UDM-SE, UDM-Pro or another console currently supporting UniFi Access |
|
Compatible UniFi Access reader |
Reads NFC, mobile or other supported credentials at the door |
UA-G3-W G3 Reader |
|
PoE++ power source |
Powers the Door Hub Mini and its connected reader |
U-PoE++ 60W adapter or compatible UniFi PoE++ switch |
|
Appropriate user credential |
Allows an authorised user to unlock the door |
UniFi Access Card, Pocket Keyfob or supported mobile credential |
Always confirm that the selected console is included on Ubiquiti’s current UniFi Access console compatibility list.
Additional door hardware required
A complete installation will also require suitable door and installation hardware. This equipment does not necessarily have to be UniFi-branded.
At minimum, this normally includes:
- Compatible electric strike, electric bolt or magnetic lock
- Cat5e or better Ethernet cabling
- Appropriate lock and sensor wiring
- Suitable enclosure or secure mounting location for the hub
Depending on the installation, it may also require:
- Door-position sensor
- Request-to-exit button or sensor
- Emergency break-glass release
- Rescue key switch
- External DC lock power supply
- Door closer
- Backup power or UPS
- Fire-alarm and emergency-release integration
Locking and access-control equipment must be designed and installed in accordance with applicable building, fire-safety and emergency-egress requirements.
Example minimum single-door UniFi Access solution
A simple Apple Touch Pass and NFC-enabled door solution could consist of:
- 1 × UA-HUB-DOOR-MINI
- 1 × UA-G3-W G3 Reader
- 1 × U-PoE++ 60W adapter
- 1 × compatible UniFi Console running UniFi Access
- 1 × suitable electric lock
- Cat5e or better cabling
- Touch Pass, UniFi Access Card or compatible NFC credential
The U-PoE++ adapter connects to the existing network and powers the Door Hub Mini. The G3 Reader connects directly to one of the hub’s PoE+ ports, while the electric lock connects to the appropriate powered or dry-relay terminal.

Specifications are based on Ubiquiti’s current UA-HUB-DOOR-MINI technical information.
Door Hub Mini or standard UniFi Door Hub?
The Door Hub Mini is best suited to a basic single-door installation requiring reader connectivity, one lock output, door-position monitoring and request-to-exit functionality.
The larger UniFi Door Hub is more appropriate when an installation requires:
- More input and output connections
- Dedicated emergency input
- Additional lock or auxiliary terminals
- More complex entry and exit configurations
- Greater local event and credential resilience during a console connection interruption
Ubiquiti notes that the Door Hub Mini has limited local storage. Unlike larger Access Control Hubs, pending unlock events and newly issued access credentials may not automatically synchronise in the same manner following a loss of connection to the console. For sites where offline operation and event retention are critical, the standard Door Hub should be considered.
For straightforward office, storeroom and internal-door installations, however, the UA-HUB-DOOR-MINI provides a compact and cost-effective foundation for a centrally managed UniFi Access solution.
