The NETGEAR M4300-24XF XSM4324FS-100AJS is a high-performance 24-port 10-Gigabit SFP+ fully managed Layer 3 switch designed for fibre aggregation, server and storage connectivity, network cores, stacking and professional AV-over-IP applications. Its 24 SFP+ interfaces deliver a 480Gbps non-blocking switching fabric, while two shared rear 10GBASE-T ports provide additional media flexibility without increasing the switch’s total of 24 active network interfaces.

The compact half-width form factor allows one switch to occupy half of a standard rack width or two compatible units to be mounted side by side in 1U.

24-port 10G SFP+ fibre switching

The XSM4324FS provides 24 SFP+ slots supporting 1-Gigabit and 10-Gigabit fibre transceivers and compatible direct-attach copper cables. It is well suited to connecting high-performance servers, NAS and SAN storage, access switches, AV endpoints and fibre network infrastructure.

Two rear 10GBASE-T RJ45 connectors support 100Mbps, 1Gbps and 10Gbps copper connections. These are shared alternatives for two of the SFP+ interfaces, meaning the switch has 26 physical network connectors but a maximum of 24 active data ports.

480Gbps non-blocking performance

A 480Gbps switching fabric and forwarding performance of up to approximately 357 million packets per second enable the switch to process line-rate traffic across all 24 10Gbps interfaces. A 32MB packet buffer assists with bursty traffic and demanding aggregation, storage and video workloads.

The switch supports jumbo frames for efficient handling of large data transfers, while link aggregation allows multiple physical connections to be combined for higher bandwidth and resilience.

Advanced Layer 3 routing

The M4300 platform provides a comprehensive managed Layer 3 feature set for enterprise and advanced business networks. Routing capabilities include static routing, policy-based routing, RIP, OSPF, VRRP, ECMP and multicast routing protocols.

This allows the XSM4324FS to operate as an aggregation or core switch, route traffic between VLANs and support resilient network architectures without depending entirely on an external router.

Virtual chassis stacking and high availability

NETGEAR M4300 switches can be stacked using compatible 10-Gigabit ports and media types. Virtual chassis functionality allows multiple switches to be configured and managed as a single logical system.

Non-stop forwarding and hitless failover help maintain traffic flow if the stack master changes, while distributed link aggregation can provide resilient connections across different stack members.

Optimised for AV-over-IP and multicast networks

The M4300 series is designed to support demanding multicast applications, including professional AV-over-IP. NETGEAR IGMP Plus helps automate multicast configuration, while IGMP and MLD snooping, querier functionality and multicast routing features provide granular traffic control.

The NETGEAR AV user interface and Engage Controller provide simplified tools for configuring and monitoring supported AV networks.

Enterprise security and management

Management options include a browser-based graphical interface, command-line interface, SNMP, RMON, SSH, HTTPS, SCP, SFTP and an out-of-band Gigabit Ethernet management port.

Security features include IEEE 802.1X authentication, RADIUS, TACACS+, access control lists, DHCP snooping, IP source protection, protected ports, denial-of-service prevention and configurable storm control.
