The Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions MA05-0920-C7B-GA includes the rugged R920 Cat 7 LTE WiFi router and a five-year NetCloud Mobile Essentials Plan. It provides a long-term managed-connectivity platform for vehicles, mobile operations and distributed IoT deployments, combining LTE, WiFi 6, dual Gigabit Ethernet, GNSS/GPS and cloud-based administration. Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions was formerly known as Cradlepoint.
Long-Term Managed LTE Connectivity for Mobile Operations
The R920-C7B’s embedded Cat 7 LTE modem supports theoretical download speeds of up to 300Mbps and upload speeds of up to 150Mbps. It uses 2x2 MIMO cellular technology and provides two 4FF nano-SIM slots for flexible carrier deployment.
Its compact IP64-rated metal enclosure is engineered for challenging environments. Support for 9–36V DC power, ignition sensing, delayed shutdown and a broad operating-temperature range makes it suitable for installation in cars, vans, trucks, buses, emergency vehicles and mobile equipment.
Dual-Band WiFi 6 for Users and Connected Equipment
WiFi 6 provides efficient wireless connectivity for personnel, passengers and operational devices. The R920 supports concurrent 2.4GHz and 5GHz operation, 2x2 MU-MIMO and WPA3 security, with maximum radio rates of up to 574Mbps on 2.4GHz and 1.2Gbps on 5GHz.
Access-point, wireless-client and WiFi-as-WAN modes allow the router to provide a local wireless network or use an available WiFi service as an alternative WAN connection.
Two switchable Gigabit Ethernet LAN/WAN ports support wired equipment and additional WAN services.
Five-Year NetCloud Mobile Essentials Plan
The included five-year NetCloud Mobile Essentials Plan provides an extended cloud-management term for organisations standardising the R920 across a fleet or distributed mobile network.
NetCloud Manager allows IT teams to administer remote routers without repeated site or vehicle visits. Configurations can be created centrally and applied consistently across groups of R920 routers.
NetCloud Mobile Essentials provides:
- Five years of NetCloud Manager access
- Zero-touch deployment for new R920 routers
- Centralised fleet-wide configuration
- Group-based policies and configuration templates
- Remote monitoring, diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Router and modem software updates
- Stateful zone-based firewall functionality
- VPN deployment and configuration
- Visibility into WAN connections and connected clients
- Support throughout the five-year subscription term
An optional NetCloud Mobile Advanced Plan can be added if the deployment requires threat management, web-content filtering, application visibility, enhanced analytics or advanced GNSS/GPS capabilities.
External Cellular, WiFi and GNSS Antenna Connections
The R920 provides:
- 2 x SMA female cellular connectors for a 2x2 MIMO LTE antenna system
- 2 x RP-SMA connectors for 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi
- 1 x SMA connector for an active GNSS/GPS antenna
- 1 x RP-SMA connector for Bluetooth Low Energy
Compatible direct-attach paddle antennas can be used with the R920. However, remote or cabled multi-element antennas are recommended for mobile and in-vehicle installations to achieve optimum performance.
Remote antennas can be installed in a position with clearer access to cellular, WiFi and satellite signals, such as on a vehicle roof or outside a metal equipment enclosure.
Antennas are not supplied with the MA05-0920-C7B-GA NetCloud Mobile package and must be selected separately for the intended installation.
Expandable LTE and 5G Router Architecture
The optional RX20-MC Managed Accessory enables the R920 to support a compatible second cellular modem. Depending on the selected modem, this can add LTE or 5G connectivity for multi-carrier resilience, WAN failover or increased mobile-network performance.
USB, GPIO, Bluetooth Low Energy and container-based edge-computing support also make the R920 adaptable to telemetry, vehicle systems and customised IoT solutions.
