The NETGEAR GSM4212PX-100AJS is a professional M4250 AV Line managed switch engineered for reliable 1Gbps AV-over-IP networking. It provides eight Gigabit PoE+ ports, two additional Gigabit Ethernet ports and two 10G SFP+ uplinks, combining a 240W PoE budget with high-speed fibre connectivity. Preconfigured AV profiles, NETGEAR IGMP Plus and an AV-focused management interface make it an excellent choice for commercial audio, video, conferencing, digital signage and live-production networks.

Professional AV-over-IP switching made easier

Unlike conventional network switches designed primarily for general data traffic, NETGEAR AV Line switches are purpose-built for professional audio and video installations. The M4250 range offers an AV-oriented interface using terminology familiar to AV technicians, together with preconfigured profiles for widely used audio and video protocols.

Profiles for technologies such as Dante, AES67, Q-SYS, NDI, NVX and SDVoE can significantly reduce the time and specialist networking knowledge required to configure multicast, VLAN and Quality of Service settings. Rear-facing network ports keep rack cabling tidy, while front-facing status indicators make the switch easy to monitor during operation.

Equally capable in commercial IT networks

Although the NETGEAR M4250 AV Line is purpose-built for professional AV over IP, it is also a fully managed network-switching platform suitable for standard commercial networks, data centres and server rooms. Its Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, fibre uplinks, VLANs, Quality of Service, link aggregation, access controls and advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 features make it suitable for connecting servers, workstations, wireless access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones and other business network devices.

The AV-specific interface and profiles are additional capabilities rather than limitations. IT administrators can use the conventional NETGEAR management interface and configure the switch for general data networking, dedicated AV services or a converged environment carrying business data, voice, video and building-system traffic across the same managed infrastructure.

Eight Gigabit PoE+ ports with a 240W power budget

Eight 10/100/1000BASE-T ports support IEEE 802.3at PoE+, delivering up to 30W per port and sharing a substantial 240W PoE budget. This enables the switch to power compatible AV encoders, decoders, IP cameras, control panels, wireless access points and other networked devices without separate local power supplies.

Two additional non-PoE Gigabit Ethernet ports provide convenient connectivity for controllers, management equipment or other network devices.

Dual 10G SFP+ uplinks for high-bandwidth AV networks

Two 1G/10G SFP+ slots provide fast fibre or direct-attach uplinks to a core switch, storage platform or another AV switch. The 10Gbps uplink capacity makes the GSM4212PX particularly suitable for aggregating multiple 1Gbps AV streams while reducing the risk of an uplink bottleneck.

Simplified multicast with NETGEAR IGMP Plus

NETGEAR IGMP Plus provides enhanced multicast handling across M4250 switches, helping AV streams reach the correct receivers without unnecessarily flooding the wider network. This simplifies multi-switch AV installations and supports consistent performance for latency-sensitive audio and video traffic.

Flexible installation and quiet operation

The 1U rackmount enclosure places the data and power connections at the rear for clean integration into professional AV racks. The switch can also be reverse-mounted when front-facing ports are preferred. Selectable fan modes allow installers to balance cooling and acoustic performance, including fanless operation where installation conditions permit.
