Ubiquiti UDM-Beast UniFi Dream Machine Beast

The Ubiquiti UDM-Beast is a high-capacity UniFi Cloud Gateway that combines 25 Gbps IDS/IPS performance, 25G connectivity and the full UniFi application platform in a 1U rackmount appliance. Designed for large business and campus deployments, it supports 750+ UniFi devices and 7,500+ connected users.

25 Gbps Intrusion Prevention for Fast Networks

The Dream Machine Beast provides substantial security processing capacity for high-bandwidth internet services. Its published 25 Gbps IDS/IPS rating helps businesses retain traffic inspection as network demand grows.

Actual throughput depends on traffic, configuration and enabled services. Use the published figure as a sizing reference rather than an assurance of performance in every deployment.

10GbE Copper and 25G Fibre Connectivity

Eight multi-gigabit 10GbE RJ45 ports provide flexible copper connectivity, complemented by two 25G SFP28 and two 10G SFP+ interfaces. This combination suits installations connecting high-speed internet services, aggregation switches and other rack equipment.

Optional Ubiquiti 25G Direct Attach Cables provide a practical connection to compatible nearby switches. For longer links, select compatible optical modules and fibre to match the distance.

One Platform for Networking and Physical Security

Support for UniFi Network, Protect, Access, Talk and Connect allows the UDM-Beast to serve as the management foundation for multiple building systems.

Combining these applications can simplify deployments where networking, surveillance and access control are being installed together. Plan capacity around the applications and devices operating concurrently, rather than adding their individual maximum ratings together.

Integrated Surveillance Storage

Two 3.5-inch NVR drive bays provide storage expansion for UniFi Protect. Select recording drives to suit camera resolution, recording settings and retention requirements.

An integrated 128 GB SSD supports system responsiveness. Plan surveillance recording capacity separately around the NVR drive bays.

Resilience with Gateway Failover and DC Backup

Shadow Mode provides VRRP gateway failover for deployments using an additional compatible gateway and the required configuration.

The UDM-Beast also features a USP-RPS DC input. Adding the optional Ubiquiti USP-RPS Redundant Power System provides an alternative power path if the internal power supply fails. Include a suitable UPS where protection against mains outages is required.

UDM-Beast or UDM-Pro-Max?

The UDM-Pro-Max remains an option for smaller installations, with a published 5 Gbps IDS/IPS rating and support for 200+ UniFi devices. Choose the UDM-Beast when greater inspection capacity, higher device density or 10GbE copper and 25G uplinks are important to the design.
