The Ubiquiti U7-Mesh is a compact indoor/outdoor WiFi 7 access point with a 2.5 GbE uplink and an integrated antenna system combining omnidirectional client coverage with a directional 5 GHz mesh antenna. Its discreet design and flexible mounting make it suitable for offices, hospitality venues, courtyards and sites where extending Ethernet cabling is difficult.

Dual-Band WiFi 7 Connectivity

Operating on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, the U7-Mesh supports modern wireless clients alongside existing devices. Four spatial streams and support for channel widths up to 240 MHz provide flexibility when designing for capacity and performance.

This is a dual-band access point without a 6 GHz radio. Actual throughput depends on client capabilities, channel availability, interference and the uplink connection; advertised wireless rates are theoretical maximums.

Directional Mesh Links with Omnidirectional Coverage

The integrated antenna system combines broad local coverage with a focused 5 GHz antenna for wireless mesh links. This makes the U7-Mesh useful for extending coverage into areas where a wired connection is impractical while continuing to serve nearby wireless devices.

When linking two U7-Mesh units, Ubiquiti recommends pointing their U logos towards each other for the best mesh signal. Positioning and a clear signal path remain important, and each access point still requires power.

Compact Indoor and Outdoor Installation

The UV-stabilised polycarbonate enclosure suits indoor installations and exposed outdoor locations. IPX6 weather protection applies when the access point is installed with its outdoor mount.

Included wall, pole and table mounting options allow installers to use the same model across different environments, from reception areas and meeting spaces to outdoor seating areas.

2.5 GbE Uplink and PoE Power

The 2.5 GbE Ethernet port provides additional wired uplink capacity beyond Gigabit Ethernet. Power over Ethernet simplifies installation, and a PoE adapter is included.

For installations using a PoE switch, select a compatible model with sufficient power budget. A switch with 2.5 GbE PoE ports is a useful companion where the design calls for the access point’s full wired link speed.

Centralised UniFi Network Management

Managed through UniFi Network, the U7-Mesh supports centralised wireless configuration, monitoring and radio management. Site Manager provides visibility across multiple locations without management licensing fees.

Guest portals, network isolation, private pre-shared keys and RADIUS-assigned VLANs support deployments with separate staff, visitor and device access requirements. Roaming assistance helps compatible clients move between access points.

U7-Mesh Compared with U6-Mesh

The U7-Mesh introduces WiFi 7, a 2.5 GbE uplink and a directional mesh antenna. The U6-Mesh uses WiFi 6 and Gigabit Ethernet, but has a 4×4 5 GHz radio compared with the U7-Mesh’s 2×2 configuration. Choose according to client requirements, uplink capacity and mesh layout rather than wireless generation alone.
