Ubiquiti UNVR-INSTANT UniFi Network Video Recorder (NVR) with PoE Switch
Ubiquiti UniFi Network Video Recorder Instant – UNVR-INSTANT
The Ubiquiti UniFi Network Video Recorder Instant (UNVR-INSTANT) is a compact all-in-one UniFi Protect NVR designed for homes, shops, offices and small business surveillance systems. It combines local video recording, a six-port Gigabit PoE switch and an integrated HDMI ViewPort in one space-saving device, supporting up to 15 Full HD, eight 2K or six 4K UniFi cameras.
Compact UniFi Protect NVR with Integrated PoE
Six Gigabit Ethernet PoE downlink ports allow compatible UniFi Protect cameras to connect directly to the recorder. With a total PoE budget of 40W and up to 15.4W available per port, the UNVR-INSTANT can power a selection of standard-power PoE cameras without requiring a separate PoE switch.
The available PoE budget should be checked against the combined maximum power consumption of all connected cameras. Cameras requiring PoE+ or higher power may need a separate compatible PoE switch or injector.
Local Video Storage with 3.5-Inch HDD Support
The UNVR-INSTANT includes one drive bay for a compatible 3.5-inch hard drive, enabling surveillance video to be recorded and retained locally. This gives the organisation direct control over its footage without requiring a conventional cloud video-storage subscription.
Actual recording retention depends on the installed hard drive capacity, number of cameras, camera resolution, frame rate, recording quality, activity levels and recording mode. A surveillance-grade hard drive is recommended for continuous recording applications.
Support for Up to Six 4K UniFi Cameras
The UNVR-INSTANT is suitable for small and medium-sized UniFi Protect deployments. Ubiquiti’s recommended camera capacities are:
- Up to 15 HD cameras
- Up to eight 2K cameras
- Up to six 4K cameras
Mixed-resolution deployments are also possible, although the final supported camera count will depend on the processing and recording requirements of the selected cameras.
Integrated HDMI ViewPort
A built-in HDMI output allows the recorder to display UniFi Protect camera feeds directly on a compatible monitor or television. It supports simultaneous ViewPort streaming from up to six 4K cameras, making it suitable for reception areas, security desks, offices, retail counters and other locations requiring a permanent live camera display.
An HDMI cable and suitable display may be required separately.
Six-Port Gigabit PoE Camera Switch
The integrated switch provides six Gigabit PoE camera ports and a separate Gigabit Ethernet uplink. This simplifies small surveillance deployments by combining the recorder and camera switch into a single device.
The UNVR-INSTANT requires connection to a compatible gateway or Layer 3 switch. The uplink connects the recorder to the wider network, while the six downlink ports provide network connectivity and PoE power for supported cameras.
Centralised Management with UniFi Protect
UniFi Protect provides a central interface for managing compatible cameras, viewing live video, reviewing recorded footage, navigating event timelines and receiving security alerts. Authorised users can access the system locally or remotely, subject to the deployment’s network and account configuration.
The recorder also supports UniFi Access and UniFi Connect, allowing it to participate in a broader UniFi physical-security and display-management environment.
UniFi Access Door-Control Support
The UNVR-INSTANT can manage up to 50 UniFi Access hubs. This makes it possible to combine video surveillance and supported door-access functions through the UniFi platform, providing a practical foundation for smaller integrated physical-security installations.
Flexible Desktop, Wall or DIN-Rail Installation
Its compact polycarbonate enclosure measures just 220 × 220 × 47mm. The unit can be placed on a desktop or installed using the included wall and DIN-rail mounting options, making it suitable for communications cabinets, retail back rooms, offices and locations where rack space is unavailable.
