The Seagate Exos X24 ST20000NM002H is a 20TB enterprise hard drive for high-capacity servers, RAID arrays and storage systems. Combining CMR recording, a 7,200 RPM spindle and a SATA 6Gb/s interface, it provides bulk storage for business data, backup repositories and cloud infrastructure.

20TB CMR storage for enterprise deployments

Conventional Magnetic Recording (CMR) makes this drive suitable for enterprise storage workloads. Its 20TB capacity helps increase storage density where drive bays and rack space are limited. Usable capacity depends on formatting and RAID configuration.

Performance for large data transfers

A 512MB cache and maximum sustained transfer rate of 285MB/s support data-intensive applications. Actual throughput depends on the workload, controller and storage configuration; the SATA interface speed is not the drive’s sustained transfer rate.

Continuous operation and power management

Designed for 24×7 operation, the helium-sealed Exos X24 includes PowerChoice idle power management and PowerBalance power/performance controls.

Secure retirement and storage compatibility

Seagate Instant Secure Erase supports drive sanitisation before redeployment or retirement. This is the standard ISE variant; the ST20000NM001H is the separate SATA SED option.

Check the server or NAS compatibility list before installation. The drive ships in 512e format and supports conversion to 4Kn using FastFormat, which deletes all existing data. Hot-plug use requires a supporting host system.
