The Ubiquiti UVC-G5-Turret-Ultra-B G5 Turret Ultra is an ultra-compact black 2K PoE security camera designed for discreet indoor and outdoor surveillance. Combining a 4MP image sensor, 30-metre infrared night vision, smart detection and IP66 weather protection, it provides reliable UniFi Protect monitoring for homes, offices, shops, warehouses, hospitality venues and other commercial environments.

Clear 2K video at up to 30 frames per second

The G5 Turret Ultra captures 4MP video at a resolution of 2688 × 1512 pixels and up to 30 frames per second. This provides greater image detail than a standard 1080p camera while keeping storage and network requirements lower than those of a 4K surveillance camera.

Its 16:9 image format is well suited to general-purpose monitoring of entrances, walkways, offices, retail areas, loading zones and building perimeters. Available image controls include brightness, contrast, sharpness, white balance, exposure control, masking, text overlays and multiple forms of noise reduction.

Wide 120.6-degree diagonal field of view

A fixed lens provides a 102.4-degree horizontal, 54.9-degree vertical and 120.6-degree diagonal field of view. This relatively wide viewing angle allows the camera to monitor a substantial area without requiring an especially long mounting distance.

The broad horizontal view makes the G5 Turret Ultra particularly useful for:

• Warehouses and stock rooms
• Covered walkways and exterior approaches
• Residential and small-business perimeter monitoring

As with any fixed-lens camera, positioning should be planned around the area requiring identification rather than coverage alone. A wider view captures more of the scene, but people and objects will appear smaller at greater distances.

Infrared night vision up to 30 metres

Integrated infrared LEDs provide night vision at distances of up to 30 metres. An automatic infrared-cut filter allows the camera to move between colour daytime imaging and infrared-assisted night monitoring as lighting conditions change.

The 30-metre stated IR range gives the G5 Turret Ultra considerably more night-vision reach than many compact cameras, making it suitable for driveways, yards, building exteriors and larger indoor spaces. Actual usable night-vision distance will depend on the scene, mounting position, reflective surfaces and surrounding ambient light.

Smart detection for people, vehicles and animals

The G5 Turret Ultra supports smart detection of people, vehicles and animals. Within a compatible UniFi Protect deployment, these detections help users find relevant footage and distinguish important movement from ordinary scene activity.

Smart detection is useful where conventional motion alerts could be triggered by changing light, vegetation or other background movement. Common applications include identifying people entering a property, vehicles arriving in a monitored area or animals moving through the camera’s field of view.

Detection accuracy will vary according to camera placement, distance, lighting, visibility and the size of the subject within the image.

Built for exposed indoor and outdoor locations

An IP66 weather-resistance rating protects the camera against dust and powerful water jets, allowing it to be installed in exposed outdoor locations when correctly mounted and cabled. Its operating temperature range of -30°C to 50°C supports deployment across a wide variety of New Zealand environments.

The aluminium-alloy and UV-stabilised polycarbonate enclosure provides a balance of durability and low weight. An IK04 impact-resistance rating offers a degree of protection against incidental knocks and interference, although sites requiring higher vandal resistance should consider a camera with a stronger IK rating.

Compact turret design for discreet installation

Measuring just 90mm in diameter and 71.2mm high, the G5 Turret Ultra is considerably more compact than many traditional surveillance cameras. Its low-profile turret form allows it to blend neatly into soffits, ceilings and walls without the bulk of a conventional bullet camera.

A turret camera also avoids the external transparent dome used by dome-style models. This can help reduce infrared reflection from the camera housing and simplify adjustment of the viewing direction during installation.

The standard wall and ceiling mount is included. Optional mounting accessories are available for installations requiring a junction box or extended arm.

PoE power and network connectivity

The UVC-G5-Turret-Ultra-B uses standard Power over Ethernet, carrying data and electrical power through the same network cable. It requires a compatible PoE switch or injector and consumes a maximum of only 4W.

Its 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interface provides ample bandwidth for the camera’s 2K video stream. The camera does not require a Gigabit switch port, making it straightforward to deploy across new or existing PoE networks.

PoE installation removes the need for a separate power outlet at the camera location and provides centralised power that can be protected by a UPS at the network cabinet.

Integrated microphone for recorded audio

A built-in microphone allows the G5 Turret Ultra to capture audio alongside video where local regulations and organisational policies permit it. Audio can provide valuable context when reviewing incidents, particularly around entrances, reception areas and other customer-facing locations.

This model provides audio capture through its microphone but does not include a speaker for two-way communication.

Managed through the UniFi Protect ecosystem

The G5 Turret Ultra is designed for use with UniFi Protect, Ubiquiti’s integrated video-surveillance platform. A suitable UniFi Protect console or network video recorder provides camera adoption, live viewing, recording, event review, alerting and centralised management.

UniFi Protect can bring cameras, recording appliances and compatible viewing devices together within one interface. This makes the UVC-G5-Turret-Ultra-B particularly attractive for organisations already using UniFi networking or building a unified Ubiquiti security environment.

The camera itself should not be treated as a complete standalone recording solution. A compatible UniFi Protect host and suitable storage must be selected separately unless they are already part of the deployment.

Optional mounting accessories

The included standard mount supports routine wall and ceiling installation. Ubiquiti also offers optional accessories for more specialised installations:

• Camera Compact Junction Box – UACC-Camera-CJB: Provides protected cable management and supports compatible wall or pole-mounted arrangements.
• Camera Arm Mount: Positions the camera away from the mounting surface where additional clearance or a different viewing angle is required.
• Gang Box Mounting Plate: Helps adapt compatible camera mounting hardware to an electrical gang box.

The UACC-Camera-CJB is explicitly listed by Ubiquiti as compatible with the UVC-G5-Turret-Ultra.

G5 Turret Ultra compared with G5 Dome Ultra

The G5 Turret Ultra and G5 Dome Ultra are both compact 2K UniFi Protect cameras with smart detection, but they suit different installations.

The G5 Turret Ultra is generally the better option where outdoor weather protection, longer infrared range and flexible wall or ceiling positioning are priorities.
