Ubiquiti UVC-G5-Turret-Ultra-W white 2K PoE camera with smart detection, IP66 protection and 30m night vision for UniFi Protect.?
Ubiquiti UVC-G5-Turret-Ultra-W UniFi Protect 2K PoE Camera – White
The Ubiquiti UVC-G5-Turret-Ultra-W G5 Turret Ultra is an ultra-compact white 2K PoE security camera designed for discreet indoor and outdoor surveillance. It combines 4MP video, a wide 120.6-degree diagonal field of view, 30-metre infrared night vision, smart detection and IP66 weather protection within a compact UniFi Protect turret camera.
Detailed 2K video at up to 30 frames per second
The G5 Turret Ultra records 4MP video at a resolution of 2688 × 1512 pixels and up to 30 frames per second. This provides more image detail than standard 1080p video while placing lower storage and network demands on a surveillance system than a 4K camera.
Its 16:9 image format is suitable for monitoring entrances, offices, shops, warehouses, driveways, loading areas and building perimeters.
Available image adjustments include:
- Colour
- Brightness
- Sharpness
- Contrast
- White balance
- Exposure control
- 2D and 3D noise reduction
- Motion-based noise reduction
- Privacy masking
- Text overlay
These controls allow installers to tune the image for the lighting and monitoring requirements of each location.
Wide-angle coverage for indoor and outdoor surveillance
The fixed lens provides a 102.4-degree horizontal, 54.9-degree vertical and 120.6-degree diagonal field of view. This allows one camera to monitor a relatively broad area, making it particularly effective for entrances, reception areas, retail floors, covered walkways and residential or commercial property surveillance.
Suitable applications include:
- Offices and commercial premises
- Retail stores and customer areas
- Warehouses and stock rooms
- Schools and community facilities
- Hospitality environments
- Garages and driveways
- Building entrances
- Residential properties
- Outdoor yards and perimeter areas
Camera placement should account for the level of identification required. A wide viewing angle captures more of the scene, but faces and other details become smaller as their distance from the camera increases.
Infrared night vision up to 30 metres
Integrated infrared LED illumination provides night vision at distances of up to 30 metres. An automatic infrared-cut filter allows the camera to transition between colour daytime video and infrared-assisted night monitoring as lighting conditions change.
The extended IR range makes the G5 Turret Ultra suitable for larger indoor spaces and exterior locations such as driveways, yards and building approaches. Actual night-vision performance will depend on the mounting position, nearby surfaces, ambient lighting and objects within the scene.
Smart detection of people, vehicles and animals
The UVC-G5-Turret-Ultra supports smart detection of people, vehicles and animals within UniFi Protect. These classifications help users identify relevant events and search recorded footage more efficiently than conventional motion detection alone.
Smart detection can be valuable for:
- Identifying people entering a monitored property
- Detecting vehicles arriving in driveways or loading areas
- Distinguishing animal activity from people and vehicles
- Reducing the time required to review recorded footage
- Creating more useful event notifications
Detection performance will vary according to distance, lighting, camera angle, visibility and the size of the subject within the image.
IP66 weather protection for exposed installations
An IP66 weather-resistance rating protects the camera against dust and powerful water jets, allowing it to be installed in exposed outdoor locations when correctly mounted and cabled.
The enclosure combines aluminium alloy with UV-stabilised polycarbonate, while an operating temperature range of -30°C to 50°C supports deployment across varied New Zealand conditions.
The camera also carries an IK04 impact-resistance rating. This provides protection against incidental impact and light interference, but cameras with higher IK ratings should be considered for locations at greater risk of vandalism.
Compact white turret camera
At only 90mm in diameter and 71.2mm high, the G5 Turret Ultra has a smaller footprint than many conventional outdoor surveillance cameras. Its white finish allows it to blend neatly with light-coloured ceilings, soffits, walls and modern commercial interiors.
The turret format provides flexible manual positioning without the large projecting body of a bullet camera. It also avoids the transparent cover used on dome cameras, which can sometimes contribute to infrared reflection when the cover is dirty, marked or exposed to moisture.
Wall or ceiling mounting
The included standard mount supports wall and ceiling installation. Its compact design suits discreet mounting beneath soffits, on exterior walls or against indoor ceilings.
Optional accessories are available where the installation requires different cable-management or positioning options:
- Camera Compact Junction Box
- Camera Arm Mount
- Camera Junction Box
- Gang Box Mounting Plate
The UACC-Camera-CJB Camera Compact Junction Box is officially listed as compatible with the G5 Turret Ultra. It provides an option for protected cable management and installations requiring a junction-box arrangement. Ubiquiti Camera Compact Junction Box specifications
PoE power for simplified cabling
The G5 Turret Ultra is powered using standard Power over Ethernet, allowing network data and electrical power to travel over the same Ethernet cable. It requires a compatible PoE switch or PoE injector and has a maximum power consumption of only 4W.
PoE removes the need for a separate electrical outlet at the camera location and allows camera power to be managed centrally. When the supporting network equipment is connected to a UPS, surveillance can also continue during short power interruptions.
The camera uses a 10/100 Mbps RJ45 interface. This provides sufficient bandwidth for its 2K video stream, so a Gigabit switch port is not required.
Built-in microphone for audio recording
An integrated microphone allows audio to be recorded with the video where permitted by local regulations and organisational policy. Audio can provide useful context when reviewing events around entrances, reception areas, customer-facing locations and other monitored spaces.
The G5 Turret Ultra supports audio capture but does not include a speaker for two-way communication.
Centralised management through UniFi Protect
The camera is designed for use within the UniFi Protect video-surveillance ecosystem. A compatible UniFi Protect console or network video recorder provides camera adoption, recording, live viewing, event review, alerting and centralised management.
UniFi Protect allows compatible cameras, recording appliances and viewing devices to be managed through a common interface. This makes the G5 Turret Ultra a natural choice for organisations already using UniFi infrastructure or standardising on the Ubiquiti security platform.
The camera should not be treated as a complete standalone recording system. A compatible UniFi Protect host and suitable recording storage are required separately unless they are already part of the installation.
White and black G5 Turret Ultra models
The white and black G5 Turret Ultra models provide the same principal camera specifications and capabilities. The choice between them is therefore primarily based on the installation environment:
- White: Blends with light ceilings, soffits, walls and commercial interiors.
- Black: Suits dark exterior surfaces, exposed structural ceilings and locations where a contrasting or less reflective finish is preferred.
Using the appropriate colour can help the camera either blend discreetly into its surroundings or remain deliberately visible as part of the site’s security design. Ubiquiti’s current store lists both white and black colour options. Ubiquiti G5 Turret Ultra product page
