Ubiquiti USW-PRO-MAX-48 UniFi 48-port Layer 3 Switch with Etherlighting, 16× 2.5GbE, 4x 10G SFP+
Managed switch with 48 Ethernet ports, 16 × 2.5GbE, four 10G SFP+ uplinks and Etherlighting for centrally managed business networks.
UBIQUITI USW-PRO-MAX-48 UNIFI 48-PORT MULTI-GIGABIT SWITCH
The Ubiquiti USW-Pro-Max-48 is a managed Layer 3 switch with 32 Gigabit Ethernet ports, 16 × 2.5GbE ports and four 10G SFP+ connections. Designed for business networks, it combines high-density wired connectivity with Etherlighting™ port illumination and centralised UniFi management in a 1U rackmount chassis. This is the non-PoE model, suited to separately powered devices and installations where PoE is provided elsewhere.
16 × 2.5GbE Ports for Faster Wired Connections
Connect compatible workstations, NAS appliances and other bandwidth-intensive devices through the 16 multi-gigabit RJ45 ports. Each supports connections up to 2.5Gbps, while the remaining 32 Gigabit ports accommodate everyday office equipment.
This mixed-speed layout lets businesses allocate faster connections where they are useful while retaining plenty of ports for standard devices. Actual transfer speeds depend on the connected equipment, cabling and network path.
Four 10G SFP+ Connections for Network Uplinks
Four SFP+ ports provide high-speed connections to upstream switches, servers or compatible storage equipment. Ubiquiti lists 10G direct attach cables and optical modules as companion accessories, allowing the connection medium to match the installation.
A direct attach cable is a practical choice for compatible equipment within the same rack; optical modules suit fibre connections over longer distances. Select the cable or module separately to suit both endpoints.
Etherlighting for Clearer Port Identification
Etherlighting uses colour-coded port illumination to make switch connections easier to identify during installation and maintenance. On a densely populated 48-port switch, this visual guidance helps technicians locate connections and interpret network assignments at the rack.
Layer 3 Routing and Network Segmentation
Inter-VLAN routing, static routing, DHCP server functionality and DHCP relay support structured business networks. VLANs can separate departments, voice services and other device groups, while switch-based routing allows traffic to move between designated local networks.
Access control lists and port isolation provide additional tools for controlling communication. Routing and access policies should be planned together so that connectivity between VLANs matches the organisation’s security requirements.
Centralised Management with UniFi Network
Manage the switch alongside other UniFi network equipment through the UniFi Network application. Centralised port settings, VLAN configuration and device adoption simplify administration across a UniFi installation.
The USW-Pro-Max-48 requires a separate UniFi management host, such as a compatible Cloud Gateway, CloudKey or self-hosted server. Remote management is available through UniFi Site Manager when enabled on the host.
Optional Redundant Power for Business Continuity
The switch includes an internal AC power supply and a DC input for the optional Ubiquiti USP-RPS redundant power system. The USP-RPS provides automatic power failover during an internal power supply failure, helping reduce disruption to connected equipment.
The USP-RPS is purchased separately. Protection against a mains power outage requires an appropriate UPS arrangement.
Choosing Between Pro Max 48 and Pro Max 48 PoE
Choose the USW-Pro-Max-48 for desktops, servers, storage and other separately powered equipment. Devices such as PoE access points require suitable external power.
If the switch needs to power access points, cameras or phones directly, consider the USW-Pro-Max-48-PoE. It provides the same Ethernet port-speed layout, with PoE output and a total 720W PoE budget.
