NETGEAR GSM4230PX-100AJS AV Line 24-Port Managed Rackmount Gigabit PoE+ Switch, 24x1G PoE+, 2x1G, 4x 10GigE SFP+, 480W PoE Power (M4250-26G4XF-PoE+)
NETGEAR GSM4230PX-100AJS M4250 AV Line 24-Port PoE+ Managed Switch
The NETGEAR GSM4230PX-100AJS is a high-performance M4250 AV Line managed switch engineered for professional 1Gbps AV-over-IP and commercial networking environments. It combines 24 Gigabit PoE+ ports, two additional Gigabit Ethernet ports, four 10G SFP+ uplinks and a substantial 480W PoE budget. With AV-specific configuration profiles, enhanced multicast management and enterprise-class switching capabilities, it is ideal for professional audio, video, conferencing, digital signage, surveillance and business networks.
High-power 24-port Gigabit PoE+ switching
The GSM4230PX provides 24 × 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE+ ports, each capable of delivering up to 30W to a compatible powered device. Its generous 480W shared PoE budget can support a large number of AV encoders, decoders, IP cameras, control panels, wireless access points, VoIP phones and other PoE-powered devices.
Two additional non-PoE Gigabit Ethernet ports provide convenient connectivity for management devices, controllers, servers or other network equipment without consuming the available PoE ports.
Four 10G SFP+ uplinks for high-bandwidth networks
Four 1G/10G SFP+ slots provide high-speed fibre or direct-attach copper connectivity to core switches, servers, storage systems or additional AV switches. The available 10Gbps uplinks help prevent bottlenecks when aggregating multiple Gigabit AV streams or connecting the switch to high-performance commercial network infrastructure.
With a 132Gbps non-blocking switching fabric, the GSM4230PX can forward traffic across all of its ports at full capacity, subject to the capabilities and configuration of the connected devices.
Why choose NETGEAR AV Line switches?
NETGEAR AV Line switches are purpose-built for the unique demands of professional AV over IP. Unlike a conventional data switch, the M4250 platform provides an AV-focused management interface, preconfigured AV profiles and enhanced multicast features designed to simplify the deployment of networked audio and video systems.
Profiles are available for popular AV technologies and protocols such as Dante, AES67, Q-SYS, NDI, NVX and SDVoE. These profiles help installers apply suitable VLAN, multicast and Quality of Service settings without having to configure each network feature individually.
The physical design is also optimised for professional AV racks. Network and power connections are positioned at the rear for clean cable management, while status indicators remain visible at the front. Selectable fan modes allow installers to balance cooling and acoustic performance in equipment rooms, studios, auditoriums and other sound-sensitive environments.
NETGEAR IGMP Plus multicast management
Professional AV-over-IP systems commonly use multicast to distribute audio or video from one source to multiple destinations. NETGEAR IGMP Plus provides enhanced multicast functionality designed to work across M4250 switches with minimal configuration.
By forwarding multicast streams only to the ports that require them, IGMP Plus helps avoid unnecessary network traffic and supports consistent performance for latency-sensitive audio and video applications.
Automatic M4250 switch configuration
Auto-trunk and Auto-LAG features help simplify connections between compatible NETGEAR switches. These features can automatically configure inter-switch links and link aggregation, reducing deployment time and the potential for configuration errors in larger network installations.
Suitable for commercial networks, data centres and server rooms
Although the GSM4230PX is purpose-built for AV over IP, it is also a fully managed Ethernet switch that is equally at home in a standard commercial network, data centre or server room. Its Gigabit access ports, 10G SFP+ uplinks, VLAN support, Quality of Service, link aggregation, access controls and advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 capabilities make it suitable for connecting servers, workstations, wireless access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones and other business network equipment.
The AV-specific interface and profiles are additional capabilities rather than limitations. Network administrators can use NETGEAR’s conventional managed-switch interface to configure the GSM4230PX for general data networking, a dedicated AV environment or a converged network carrying business data, voice, surveillance and AV traffic over the same managed infrastructure.
Flexible AV rack and commercial network installation
The 1U rackmount enclosure supports standard, recessed and reverse mounting arrangements. This allows the switch to be installed with its network ports facing either the front or rear of the rack, depending on the cabling and operational requirements of the installation.
Selectable fan settings can be used to prioritise low-noise operation or increased cooling. Fanless operation may also be selected where environmental temperature and PoE loading permit.
