Ericsson S700 ruggedised LTE gateway with 5-year NetCloud IoT Essentials
The Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions TB05-0700C4E-GM is a semi-ruggedised S700 LTE gateway supplied with a five-year NetCloud IoT Essentials Plan, AC power supply and antennas. Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions was formerly known as Cradlepoint. Designed for distributed IoT, light-industrial and portable applications, the S700 combines global Cat 4 LTE, dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit Ethernet, active GNSS and centralised cloud management in a compact IP30-rated aluminium enclosure.
Antenna Connectors:
- Cellular/LTE: 2 × female SMA connectors, supporting 2×2 MIMO. An external antenna requires 2 × SMA male plugs.
- Wi-Fi: 2 × female RP-SMA connectors, supporting 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi 6. An external antenna requires 2 × RP-SMA male plugs.
- GNSS/GPS: 1 × female SMA connector. An external GNSS antenna requires 1 × SMA male plug.
Global Cat 4 LTE connectivity for IoT applications
The Ericsson S700-C4E features a global Cat 4 LTE modem supporting a broad range of FDD and TDD frequency bands, including bands commonly used by mobile networks in New Zealand and Australia. It delivers theoretical cellular speeds of up to 150 Mbps downstream and 50 Mbps upstream.
Dual Nano-SIM slots provide carrier flexibility and SIM-based network selection. The LTE connection can be used as a primary WAN service, a failover connection for critical equipment or a separate network for IoT devices that should remain isolated from the organisation’s main infrastructure.
Five-year NetCloud IoT Essentials Plan
The included five-year Ericsson NetCloud IoT Essentials Plan provides the cloud management and software services required to deploy, configure and operate the S700. Through Ericsson NetCloud Manager, administrators can manage gateways remotely using a web browser or mobile application, reducing the need for on-site configuration and support visits.
NetCloud IoT Essentials provides capabilities such as:
- Zero-touch deployment for faster gateway installation
- Centralised configuration and policy management
- Group-based management for large IoT deployments
- At-a-glance device, connection and network status
- Remote monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Reporting, dashboards and network analytics
- Routing, traffic steering and secure tunnelling capabilities
- Software and firmware updates throughout the five-year plan
- Online training and technical support for the subscription term
- Access to NetCloud APIs and SDK tools for compatible integrations
The five-year term makes TB05-0700C4E-GM particularly suitable for long-term IoT projects by aligning the gateway’s cloud management with an extended deployment lifecycle. Some advanced networking, security and analytics capabilities may require an additional NetCloud service or add-on.
Concurrent dual-band Wi-Fi 6 connectivity
Dual-radio Wi-Fi 6 allows the S700 to operate concurrently on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The 2.4 GHz network provides compatibility and greater range for many IoT devices, while the 5 GHz band offers greater capacity for compatible equipment.
The gateway supports 2×2 MIMO, WPA2 and WPA3 security, with wireless data rates of up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 1.2 Gbps on 5 GHz. Two external RP-SMA antenna connections help provide reliable local wireless coverage.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN and WAN ports
Two switchable Gigabit Ethernet interfaces can be configured for LAN or WAN operation. This allows the S700 to connect local controllers, cameras, digital signs, monitoring equipment and other Ethernet-based devices while also supporting a wired primary or secondary WAN connection.
The combination of cellular, Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity makes the S700 suitable for fixed, portable and high-availability applications, including surveillance systems, kiosks, parallel networks, industrial monitoring and remote infrastructure.
Secure routing, firewall and VPN performance
The Ericsson S700 provides stateful firewall throughput of up to 480 Mbps and point-to-point IPsec VPN performance of up to 50 Mbps. Support for IPsec, GRE and DMVPN enables secure connections between remote IoT deployments, central networks and cloud-hosted applications.
The gateway supports up to 100,000 concurrent TCP sessions, multiple VPN tunnels and up to 64 Layer 2 or Layer 3 VLANs. These capabilities allow administrators to segment connected equipment and apply appropriate routing and security policies to different IoT systems.
Semi-ruggedised construction for demanding environments
The S700 uses an IP30-rated aluminium enclosure designed to withstand vibration and temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C. Its compact dimensions make it suitable for installation inside equipment cabinets, control panels, kiosks, vehicles and other space-constrained locations.
DIN-rail mounting is supported with the appropriate mounting hardware. Configurable GPIO connections also allow integration with sensors, alarms and industrial equipment.
Active GNSS for asset tracking and geofencing
An active GNSS receiver supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou satellite constellations. When used with a suitable external GNSS antenna and compatible NetCloud functionality, this can provide location information for mobile equipment, portable installations, asset tracking and geofencing applications.
