Ericsson S700 Ruggedised LTE Gateway with Wi-Fi 6 and 5-Year NetCloud Essentials + Advanced
The Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions TBA5-0700C4E-GM combines the compact S700 semi-ruggedised LTE gateway with a five-year Ericsson NetCloud IoT Essentials and Advanced subscription. Formerly sold under the Cradlepoint brand, the S700 provides centrally managed 4G LTE connectivity, concurrent dual-band Wi-Fi 6, dual Gigabit Ethernet and active GNSS for distributed IoT, surveillance, digital signage and light-industrial applications.
Its IP30-rated aluminium enclosure, wide operating-temperature range, ignition sensing and resistance to shock and vibration make it suitable for fixed, portable and embedded deployments. The included NetCloud Advanced capabilities add enhanced troubleshooting, remote access, secure tunnelling, analytics and IoT integration features for managing geographically dispersed equipment.
Antenna Connectors:
- Cellular/LTE: 2 × female SMA connectors, supporting 2×2 MIMO. An external antenna requires 2 × SMA male plugs.
- Wi-Fi: 2 × female RP-SMA connectors, supporting 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi 6. An external antenna requires 2 × RP-SMA male plugs.
- GNSS/GPS: 1 × female SMA connector. An external GNSS antenna requires 1 × SMA male plug.
Cloud-Managed 4G LTE Connectivity for IoT Deployments
The S700-C4E features an embedded LTE Category 4 modem supporting theoretical download speeds of up to 150Mbps and uploads of up to 50Mbps. Dual 4FF Nano-SIM slots allow two mobile-network SIMs to be installed for carrier flexibility, although the router contains a single cellular modem and uses one connection at a time.
A broad selection of global LTE bands makes this C4E model suitable for deployments in New Zealand, Australia, Europe and other supported markets. Two external SMA cellular antenna connections provide 2×2 MIMO operation for improved LTE performance and signal reliability.
Concurrent Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6
Integrated dual-radio Wi-Fi 6 provides simultaneous 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless connectivity. The 2×2 MIMO 802.11ax radio supports theoretical wireless rates of up to 574Mbps at 2.4GHz and 1.2Gbps at 5GHz.
Two external RP-SMA Wi-Fi antenna connections support the included dual-band antennas or a compatible cabled external antenna system. WPA2 and WPA3 Personal and Enterprise security options help protect wireless clients and connected IoT equipment.
Five-Year Ericsson NetCloud IoT Essentials Plan
The NetCloud IoT Essentials Plan provides the core cloud-management, orchestration and support services required to operate the S700 throughout the five-year subscription term. Through Ericsson NetCloud Manager, administrators can deploy, configure, monitor and troubleshoot remote gateways without requiring routine on-site access.
Relevant Essentials capabilities include:
- Centralised cloud management through Ericsson NetCloud Manager
- Zero-touch provisioning for rapid deployment at scale
- Group-based configuration and policy management
- Real-time device, cellular and network visibility
- Remote configuration and troubleshooting tools
- Cellular health, signal and data-usage monitoring
- Routing, firewall, VLAN and traffic-management functionality
- IPsec, GRE and other secure tunnelling capabilities
- Dashboard, reporting and alerting tools
- NetCloud OS software and modem firmware updates
- Online training and Ericsson technical support for the subscription term
NetCloud IoT Advanced Features
This SKU also includes the NetCloud IoT Advanced Plan for the full five-year term. Advanced extends the Essentials platform with additional tools for complex IoT networks, remote equipment management and third-party application integration.
Advanced capabilities applicable to the S700 can include:
- Enhanced VPN and tunnelling functionality
- Remote Connect for browser-based access to devices located behind the router
- In-band and out-of-band management capabilities
- More detailed endpoint, client, interface and modem analytics
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic visibility
- GNSS-based location tracking and location-service features
- NetCloud Edge Connector support for compatible IoT platforms
- Integration with services such as Microsoft Azure IoT Central
- Access to NetCloud SDK and API capabilities for custom integrations and automation
Feature availability can depend on the current NetCloud OS release, account configuration and any required third-party service.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet and Flexible Networking
Two 10/100/1000Mbps RJ45 interfaces can be configured for LAN or WAN operation. This allows the S700 to serve as a primary LTE gateway, a cellular failover device, a parallel network connection or a secure gateway for Ethernet-connected IoT equipment.
The router supports up to 64 Layer 2 or Layer 3 VLANs, a stateful firewall, traffic steering and secure VPN connectivity. It is rated for stateful firewall throughput of up to 480Mbps and point-to-point IPsec VPN throughput of up to 50Mbps under Ericsson’s test conditions.
Active GNSS for Location-Aware IoT Applications
An integrated active GNSS receiver supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou satellite constellations. A dedicated female SMA connector is provided for an external active GNSS antenna, making the S700 suitable for location-aware portable equipment, mobile assets and other tracking applications.
The GNSS antenna is separate from the cellular antennas and is not included with this package.
External Antenna Connections
The S700 provides five external antenna connections:
|

The package includes two 600MHz–6GHz SMA cellular antennas and two dual-band RP-SMA Wi-Fi antennas. A compatible active GNSS antenna is optional.
For installations using a combined outdoor antenna, the antenna system should provide 2 × SMA male connectors for LTE, 2 × RP-SMA male connectors for Wi-Fi and, if GNSS is required, 1 × SMA male connector for GNSS.
Semi-Ruggedised Aluminium Construction
The compact aluminium housing is designed for light-industrial and portable environments where a standard plastic desktop router may not be appropriate. The S700 operates from -20°C to 60°C and includes reverse-polarity protection, transient-voltage protection and ignition sensing.
Compliance with recognised shock and vibration test standards supports deployment in applications such as:
- Remote monitoring and telemetry
- Digital signage and kiosks
- Video surveillance systems
- Building and industrial automation
- Energy, utilities, oil and gas monitoring
- Temporary or portable network installations
- Cellular backup and parallel networking
- Location-aware IoT equipment
The enclosure carries an IP30 ingress-protection rating. It is intended for protected indoor installations or installation inside a suitable weatherproof enclosure when deployed outdoors.
