Ericsson S700 Ruggedised LTE Gateway with 3-Year NetCloud IoT Essentials

The Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions TB03-0700C4E-GM combines an S700 semi-ruggedised IoT gateway with a global Cat 4 LTE modem, concurrent dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and a three-year NetCloud IoT Essentials subscription. Formerly sold under the Cradlepoint name, the Ericsson S700 provides secure, centrally managed connectivity for industrial monitoring, surveillance, digital signage, kiosks, mobile assets and other distributed IoT applications.

Its IP30-rated aluminium housing, wide operating-temperature range and resistance to vibration make the S700 suitable for demanding indoor and protected industrial environments. The package includes an AC power supply and antennas, providing a complete cellular gateway solution ready for deployment.

Global Cat 4 LTE connectivity for IoT deployments

The integrated S700-C4E modem supports a broad selection of global LTE frequency bands, including those commonly used in New Zealand and Australia. Cat 4 LTE provides theoretical download speeds of up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50 Mbps, while dual SIM slots support SIM-based carrier selection and flexible cellular deployment.

Two switchable Gigabit Ethernet interfaces allow the S700 to connect local equipment or use a wired connection for WAN access. Cellular connectivity can therefore operate as the primary connection, a resilient backup path or part of a parallel network isolated from the organisation’s main infrastructure.

Concurrent dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Gigabit Ethernet

Dual-radio Wi-Fi 6 enables the Ericsson S700 to operate concurrently on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. This gives installers the flexibility to connect modern equipment over 5 GHz while continuing to support IoT devices that depend on the longer reach and compatibility of 2.4 GHz.

The gateway supports WPA2 and WPA3 security and provides up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 1.2 Gbps on 5 GHz. Two external RP-SMA antenna connections help provide dependable wireless coverage within kiosks, equipment cabinets, portable systems and light-industrial installations.

Three-year NetCloud IoT Essentials Plan

The included three-year Ericsson NetCloud IoT Essentials Plan provides the cloud management and software services needed to deploy and operate the S700 at scale. Through Ericsson NetCloud Manager, administrators can remotely configure, monitor and troubleshoot gateways without needing to visit each site.

NetCloud IoT Essentials enables centralised configuration, group-based policies, zero-touch deployment, device-status visibility, reporting, analytics and remote diagnostic workflows. It also provides access to the appropriate router software, firmware updates, online training and technical support for the three-year subscription term.

For organisations managing gateways across multiple sites, this centralised approach helps ensure consistent configurations while reducing installation time and ongoing administration. NetCloud APIs and the SDK also enable integration with third-party applications and custom IoT management workflows. Availability of individual software functions can depend on the selected service package and any optional NetCloud add-ons.

Secure routing, VPN and traffic management

The S700 delivers up to 480 Mbps stateful firewall throughput and supports IPsec, GRE and DMVPN tunnelling. It can establish secure connections between remote IoT installations, central applications and cloud services while applying routing and traffic-management policies locally.

Support for up to 100,000 concurrent TCP sessions, multiple VPN tunnels and as many as 64 Layer 2 or Layer 3 VLANs gives the gateway the flexibility to segment connected equipment and accommodate sophisticated IoT network designs.

Semi-ruggedised Ericsson IoT gateway

An aluminium IP30 enclosure helps protect the S700 against physical impacts and environmental conditions encountered in equipment cabinets, warehouses and light-industrial settings. The gateway operates in temperatures from -20°C to 60°C and can be DIN-rail mounted with the appropriate mounting hardware.

Configurable GPIO connections can interface with sensors, alarms and other industrial equipment. A locking USB connection supports compatible accessories, while active GNSS provides location information for asset tracking, geofencing and portable IoT applications.
