The NETGEAR GSM4212P-100AJS is a compact, fully managed M4250 AV Line switch for professional 1Gbps audio and video networks. It combines eight Gigabit PoE+ ports, two additional Gigabit Ethernet connections, two Gigabit SFP slots and a 125W PoE budget in a rackmount design created specifically for AV-over-IP installations.

The M4250 series arrives with AV-specific configuration profiles, an intuitive AV-oriented interface, enhanced multicast handling and physical features designed for professional AV racks.

Profiles for commonly deployed AV technologies—including Dante, AES67, Q-SYS, NDI, NVX and SDVoE—help automate the necessary VLAN, QoS and multicast settings. This reduces configuration time and makes advanced managed switching more accessible to AV technicians.

Equally capable in commercial IT networks

Although the NETGEAR M4250 AV Line is purpose-built for professional AV over IP, it is also a fully managed network-switching platform suitable for standard commercial networks, data centres and server rooms. Its Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, fibre uplinks, VLANs, Quality of Service, link aggregation, access controls and advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 features make it suitable for connecting servers, workstations, wireless access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones and other business network devices.

The AV-specific interface and profiles are additional capabilities rather than limitations. IT administrators can use the conventional NETGEAR management interface and configure the switch for general data networking, dedicated AV services or a converged environment carrying business data, voice, video and building-system traffic across the same managed infrastructure.

Gigabit PoE+ connectivity for AV endpoints

Eight 10/100/1000BASE-T ports provide IEEE 802.3at PoE+, with up to 30W available per port and a 125W shared power budget. Compatible IP speakers, control panels, cameras, AV-over-IP endpoints and wireless devices can receive network connectivity and electrical power through a single Ethernet cable.

Two additional non-PoE Gigabit ports are available for controllers, servers, uplinks or other network devices.

Dual Gigabit SFP fibre connections

Two 1000BASE-X SFP slots support Gigabit fibre links using compatible SFP transceivers. They provide a practical way to connect remote AV racks, extend networks beyond copper cabling distances or create electrically isolated links between different parts of an installation.

AV-oriented multicast and traffic control

NETGEAR IGMP Plus provides enhanced multicast management for audio and video streams, while preconfigured AV profiles help assign the correct VLAN and Quality of Service behaviour. The switch also retains comprehensive managed-network functionality for installers who require more detailed configuration.

Clean, quiet rack integration

Rear-facing ports keep permanent data and power cabling away from the front of the rack, while front-mounted indicators make switch status easy to check. Flexible mounting hardware supports standard, recessed and reverse installation, and selectable fan modes allow operation to be adapted for noise-sensitive AV environments.
