Grandstream GWN7802P 16-Port Gigabit PoE+ Managed Ethernet Switch, 4x SFP, 240W PoE
6-port Gigabit managed PoE+ switch with a 240W power budget, four SFP uplinks and free cloud management for flexible business networks.
Grandstream GWN7802P 16-Port Gigabit Managed PoE+ Switch
The Grandstream GWN7802P is a Layer 2+ managed Gigabit switch with 16 PoE+ Ethernet ports, four dedicated Gigabit SFP uplinks and a 240W PoE budget. Designed for small and medium business networks, it combines power for access points, IP phones and cameras with VLAN segmentation, traffic prioritisation and flexible local, cloud or on-premise management.
16 Gigabit PoE+ Ports with a 240W Power Budget
All 16 RJ45 ports support IEEE 802.3af/at PoE/PoE+, delivering up to 30W per port within the switch’s shared 240W budget. This allows compatible devices to receive data and power through one Ethernet cable, reducing the need for separate power supplies at installation points.
Dynamic power allocation, configurable port priorities and PoE scheduling help administrators manage available power and control when connected equipment operates.
When sizing a deployment, calculate the combined maximum power requirements of the connected devices. The 240W budget does not allow all 16 ports to deliver 30W simultaneously.
Four Dedicated Gigabit SFP Uplinks
Four 1Gbps SFP ports provide connections to upstream switches or fibre links while leaving all 16 copper ports available for endpoints. This is useful for connecting communications cabinets, extending a network across larger premises or separating uplinks from access connections.
For fibre deployment, select compatible Gigabit SFP transceivers and fibre cabling to suit the distance, fibre type and connection at the other end. These are Gigabit SFP interfaces, so network designs requiring 10Gbps uplinks need a different switch.
VLAN Segmentation and Layer 2+ Static Routing
VLAN support allows staff devices, guest access, voice services and surveillance equipment to be organised into separate network segments. Voice VLAN functionality helps simplify the deployment of IP telephony alongside business data traffic.
IPv4 and IPv6 static routing provides options for communication between network segments. Access control lists allow administrators to define which traffic is permitted, supporting more controlled network designs.
QoS for Voice, Video and Business Applications
Quality of Service features include traffic prioritisation, queue scheduling, traffic shaping and rate limiting. These controls help protect delay-sensitive services, such as voice calls, when links become congested.
IGMP and MLD snooping help direct multicast traffic towards interested devices, reducing unnecessary traffic on other ports. Link aggregation and spanning tree features support network designs that require additional aggregate bandwidth or redundant connections.
Network Access Controls and Security
The GWN7802P includes 802.1X authentication, port security, DHCP snooping, ARP inspection and IP Source Guard. When correctly configured, these features help restrict unauthorised access and reduce risks from rogue DHCP servers and address spoofing.
Port isolation, access control lists and storm control provide further tools for controlling endpoint communication and limiting disruptive traffic.
Free Cloud and On-Premise Management
Manage the switch directly through its built-in web interface, centrally through Grandstream’s free GDMS Networking cloud platform, or using the free GWN Manager on-premise platform.
These options suit individual business installations and MSP-managed deployments across multiple sites. Local management allows straightforward standalone operation, while centralised management simplifies administration across a wider Grandstream network.
Rack Installation and Model Selection
The GWN7802P supports desktop, wall and standard 19-inch rack installation, with rack mounting brackets included. Its fan-cooled design requires adequate ventilation, making a communications cabinet or equipment room a sensible installation location.
Choose the GWN7802P when connected devices need PoE power. The GWN7802 provides the same 16 Gigabit copper ports and four Gigabit SFP ports without PoE output, making it an alternative for networks with separately powered equipment.
