Ubiquiti UXG-PRO UniFi Next-Generation Gateway Pro

The Ubiquiti UXG-Pro UniFi Gateway Pro is a rack-mounted security gateway for medium to large business networks and centrally managed deployments. Combining 10G SFP+ connectivity, multi-WAN support and 3.5 Gbps IDS/IPS throughput, it provides routing and network protection while integrating with a separately hosted UniFi Network management platform.

Independent UniFi Gateway for Centrally Managed Networks

The UXG-Pro suits organisations and MSPs that want to manage their gateway, switches and access points through an external UniFi platform. It is managed using a CloudKey, Official UniFi Hosting or UniFi OS Server.

This independent gateway design allows routing hardware and network management to be deployed separately. It is particularly useful when adding a gateway to an existing centrally managed UniFi environment.

Note. A separate management platform is required - such as the Ubiquiti CloudKey+ (SKU: UCK-G2-SSD); the UXG-Pro does not host the UniFi Network application itself.

10G SFP+ WAN and LAN Connectivity

The default interface configuration provides one 10G SFP+ and one Gigabit RJ45 port for WAN connectivity, with the same combination available for LAN connections.

Use the SFP+ LAN interface to connect to a compatible aggregation or access switch, while selecting the appropriate WAN interface for the internet service. The SFP+ ports support 1G and 10G connections, providing flexibility for fibre modules or suitable copper adapters.

The 10G interface speed should be considered separately from security processing performance. Ubiquiti specifies 3.5 Gbps IDS/IPS throughput; actual performance depends on traffic patterns and enabled features.

Application-Aware Firewall and Intrusion Prevention

Stateful and application-aware firewall controls help administrators manage traffic between networks and restrict access to business resources. Deep packet inspection and traffic identification provide visibility into the applications using network bandwidth.

Intrusion detection and prevention add protection against recognised threats. Zone-based firewall policies, content filtering and ad blocking provide further control over network access.

These capabilities support practical network designs such as separating staff, guest and connected-device traffic, with access rules appropriate to each group.

Multi-WAN Resilience and Traffic Management

Multi-WAN load balancing and failover support help businesses make use of multiple internet connections and maintain connectivity when a service becomes unavailable.

Internet quality and outage reporting assist with troubleshooting, while advanced QoS provides tools for managing competing traffic requirements. OSPF dynamic routing and advanced NAT support more complex network designs.

VPN Connectivity for Branches and Remote Users

The UXG-Pro supports Site Magic, IPsec and OpenVPN site-to-site connectivity. Remote-access options include WireGuard, OpenVPN and Teleport, allowing administrators to choose an approach suited to their users and deployment.

These options make it suitable for linking business locations and providing controlled access to internal resources from outside the office.

Rack Installation and Optional Power Backup

The 1U chassis integrates into a standard equipment rack, with a front-mounted 1.3-inch touchscreen for local status information. An internal AC power supply powers the gateway.

UniFi Power Backup support provides an optional DC backup power connection. The compatible backup system is purchased separately and should be considered where continuity during an internal power-supply failure matters.

For SFP+ connections, select the required modules, adapters or direct attach cables separately. Ubiquiti recommends official SFP+ modules or its SFP+ to RJ45 adapter for the best experience.
