Ubiquiti UniFi Network Video Recorder Pro – UNVR-PRO

The Ubiquiti UniFi Network Video Recorder Pro (UNVR-PRO) is a high-capacity, rack-mounted network video recorder designed for professional UniFi Protect surveillance systems. Featuring seven 2.5-inch/3.5-inch drive bays, RAID data protection, 10Gbps network connectivity and support for up to 70 Full HD or 24 4K cameras, the UNVR-PRO provides scalable, locally hosted video recording for businesses, schools, warehouses, retail sites and other multi-camera environments.

High-Capacity UniFi Protect Video Storage

Seven drive bays provide substantial storage capacity for continuous video recording. The UNVR-PRO supports compatible 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch HDDs or SSDs, allowing storage capacity and data protection to be configured according to the requirements of each surveillance deployment.

Ubiquiti rates the recorder for up to 60 days of storage when used with 24 4K cameras or 70 Full HD cameras. Actual retention time will depend on the installed drives, camera quantity, resolution, frame rate, recording mode and activity levels.

Scalable Camera Management

The UNVR-PRO is designed for medium-sized and large UniFi Protect installations. Its recommended camera capacities are:

  • Up to 70 HD cameras
  • Up to 35 2K cameras
  • Up to 24 4K cameras

These figures provide a useful sizing guide. Mixed-camera deployments and individual recording settings can affect the total number of cameras the system can support.

RAID Data Protection

Multi-drive data protection helps reduce the risk of recorded footage being lost if an individual storage drive fails. The front-access drive bays also simplify drive installation and replacement, making the UNVR-PRO suitable for security systems where storage resilience and serviceability are important.

RAID improves storage availability but should not be treated as a complete backup. Important footage should be exported or backed up separately where long-term retention is required.

10G SFP+ and Gigabit Ethernet Connectivity

The recorder includes a 10G SFP+ interface for high-bandwidth network connectivity and a Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port. The SFP+ connection is particularly useful in surveillance networks carrying traffic from numerous high-resolution cameras or when transferring large amounts of recorded footage.

The UNVR-PRO does not directly provide PoE power to cameras. UniFi Protect cameras must connect through a suitable network and, where required, a compatible PoE switch or injector.

Local Video Recording with UniFi Protect

UniFi Protect provides centralised management of compatible UniFi cameras, live views, recordings, event timelines and alerts. Video is stored locally on the UNVR-PRO, giving the organisation direct control over its surveillance recordings without requiring a conventional cloud video-storage subscription.

Authorised users can securely manage and view the system through UniFi Protect interfaces, subject to the network and remote-access configuration.

Integrated Touchscreen and Rack-Mount Design

A built-in 1.3-inch touchscreen provides convenient system information and status visibility from the front of the recorder. The durable SGCC steel enclosure occupies 2U of rack space and is suited to installation in a server room, communications cabinet or dedicated security equipment rack.

Redundant Power Option

The UNVR-PRO has an internal universal AC power supply and also includes a DC input for connection to the optional UniFi SmartPower Redundant Power System (USP-RPS). This provides an additional power source for installations where increased service continuity is required.

UniFi Access and UniFi Connect Support

In addition to UniFi Protect, the UNVR-PRO can run UniFi Access and UniFi Connect. It supports management of up to 150 UniFi Access hubs, allowing video surveillance and door-access applications to be brought together within the wider UniFi management environment.
